Get Clarity
Many women decide to take a pregnancy test when they begin to have early symptoms. Though symptoms vary from person to person, they can include:
- Missed period
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Nausea (with or without vomiting)
- Fatigue
- Frequent urination
- Constipation
- Nasal congestion
- Cramping
- Food aversions
- Moodiness
However, these symptoms can occur due to hormonal imbalances, stress, and other health conditions.
For a woman on a 28 day cycle, a pregnancy test could show positive as early as 5 days before her missed period; however, the Mayo Clinic recommends waiting to take a pregnancy test until after your missed period. Waiting increases the likelihood of receiving an accurate result because this gives any hCG levels in your body time to build to detectable levels. This hormone is present in your body during pregnancy and rises quickly during those initial weeks.
If you have irregular periods, you may wonder what steps to take. Testing 21 days after unprotected sexual intercourse is one method, and if you have a medical condition that causes irregular cycles, speaking with your healthcare provider is also essential.
We know you want reliable results. One of our nurses will perform a urine pregnancy test and provide you with the results, allowing you to ask any questions you may have.
