Pregnancy centers exist across the country, helping women with unplanned pregnancies. True Care Women’s Resource Center has been Casper’s place to go for women facing an unplanned pregnancy for 30 years. Perhaps you have seen our building or driven past a True Care billboard and wondered what we actually do. Well here is the scoop on who we are and what we do.
What exactly is True Care Women’s Resource Center?
True Care is a non-profit faith-based medical clinic. Our patients are women from all walks of life with one thing in common: they are struggling with an unplanned pregnancy. We offer pregnancy testing and confirmation ultrasounds free of charge and provide education on all of a woman’s pregnancy options: abortion, adoption, and parenting. Other services include testing and treatment for two common STDs, chlamydia and gonorrhea; parenting classes; our Early Kincare resource program; and an abortion recovery program. Our caring advocates meet with patients one-on-one to assess their current situation and offer non-judgmental confidential support. Our licensed medical professionals provide pregnancy testing and ultrasound under the direction of our medical director, Dr. Sam Scaling. We are excited to be able to offer all of our services free of charge to every patient.
How can we offer our services for free?
Providing free services is a huge endeavor. It costs money to maintain a medical clinic, buy supplies, pay staff, and cover general expenses. Our wonderful advocates volunteer their time – they are not paid. These ladies come each week, committing time and energy because they truly care about each woman who walks through our clinic doors. We have several other volunteers who help with data entry, maintenance, buying supplies, making quilts/blankets, and many other necessary tasks. On the monetary side, we are funded by individual donations, churches, and foundations as well as our fundraising events. Last weekend we had our yearly sponsored walk and 5K run to raise money for True Care. It is heartwarming to see how many people volunteered their time and resources for this annual event.
Why do people give time and money to True Care?
Why would anyone give time or money to True Care? The community cares about our women and our families! True Care is able to serve women during a difficult and scary time in their lives. Our compassionate support, relevant education and helpful resources assist women as they decide how to proceed after receiving a positive pregnancy test result. Our long term programs continue to support them throughout their pregnancy and delivery- again, all at no charge.
We believe every person who walks through our doors has an innate value imbued by our creator. It is our privilege to be able to provide medical care and resources to women in need. Our desire is to effectively serve pregnant women by transforming their fears into confidence.
