Is Abortion Legal in Wyoming?
Abortion in Wyoming is currently legal up to 24 weeks gestation due to a temporary court injunction. If a minor seeks an abortion, she must receive consent from a parent or legal guardian and inform them of her decision at least 48 hours before the procedure.
In 2022, the state passed HB92, which banned abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or to preserve the woman’s life or health. However, due to the court injunction against this law, abortion is still legal.
Though abortion is currently an option in Wyoming, it is a significant decision with risks and side effects. It’s crucial to get the facts before making a pregnancy decision.
How to Protect Your Health
True Care Women’s Resource Center’s pre-abortion checklist helps safeguard your health by outlining essential steps to take:
1. Confirm your results with a pregnancy test at our center.
Sometimes, at-home results are inaccurate. We’ll verify your results with no-cost testing.
2. Receive an ultrasound.
An ultrasound is the only way to medically confirm your pregnancy and learn whether it is progressing, where it is located, and how far along you are.
We offer limited obstetric ultrasounds following a positive pregnancy test at our center.
3. Get tested for STIs/STDs.
Following an ultrasound, we provide STI/STD testing and treatment as needed. Untreated STIs/STDs can lead to complications, and further issues can result if you also have an abortion procedure.
4. Discuss abortion and take additional safety steps.
One of our staff members will discuss the risks and side effects of abortion procedures and answer any questions. We can also provide information on parenting and adoption.
Making a pregnancy decision can be difficult, but you aren’t alone. We’re here to address your concerns and provide information in a non-judgmental environment.
