This week is National Nurses Week, a time to celebrate those special health care workers who serve humankind with compassion, dedication, and professionalism.

True Care Women’s Resource Center employs five women who are registered nurses, and two of these ladies have been part of the True Care team for nine or more years.

Our nurse manager, Sally, RN, BSN, RDMS, has been with True Care since 2007.  She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Biola University in southern California and passed her RN boards in 1993. In 2010 she took her registry exam for sonography (ultrasound) and became an RDMS (registered diagnostic medical sonographer.)  Sally says she loves working at True Care because she is able to use her skills as a nurse and sonographer to make a difference in the lives of the women who come through our clinic doors.  She is mother to three wonderful teens who keep her busy outside of work and says, “I wouldn’t trade in even one!”

Rebecca, RN, BSN, CLC, SRAS is the coordinator for our Baby & Me prenatal and parenting programs and the center’s Sexual Risk Avoidance programs. She is also a staff nurse and a Certified Lactation Consultant. Having dual bachelor’s degrees from Ball State University and the University of Wyoming, she hung up her paramedic background to pursue nursing and has worked with newborns, the elderly, and everyone in between. Rebecca has enjoyed her work at True Care for the last nine years, saying, “Serving at True Care is where my heart is and where my life’s purpose is fulfilled…..loving women and teen girls where they are at, meeting needs, and being an extra support system for them. A very humbling yet rewarding experience.”

Amber, RN, MSN, APRN, CNM, CLC, was one of the youngest to graduate from Casper College’s nursing program.  She continued her education and recently passed her boards to become a certified nurse-midwife. In addition to helping at True Care, Amber recently opened her own business, Divine Women’s Care LLC, providing women’s health services and home birth services.

Our newest nurse, Sara, RN BSN, began her service at True Care as a volunteer advocate a few years ago; she became a staff nurse in November 2016. She’s been an RN since 2002, a graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her nursing background includes neonatal intensive care, hospice nursing, and working in an assisted living memory care unit.  Originally from Oklahoma, Sara enjoys Wyoming winters for snowshoeing as well as hiking, bird watching, and observing colorful sunsets.

With our nurse manager registered as a sonographer and all of our dedicated staff trained in limited obstetrical ultrasound, True Care provides pregnancy confirmation ultrasounds for our patients free of charge. Our nurses maintain their skills through various trainings done throughout the year.

Our Early KinCare Resource Coordinator, Cheryl, also an R.N., obtained her nursing degree from Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs. She helps our patients qualify for Medicaid and provides other resources they need at their original appointment and throughout their pregnancy. She is also certified to facilitate smoking cessation classes. She’s been with True Care for five years. Cheryl previously worked in hospitals and nursing homes and as a telephonic nurse for APS Healthcare, serving as case manager for patients across the state who were on Medicaid.

True Care is pleased to offer professional medical services to our patients and is honored to have these wonderful women working with us, sharing their compassion, dedication, and professionalism with our patients. They conduct pregnancy and STD tests, answer health questions posed by our patients, make referrals as needed, and, for those staff members who are trained, provide ultrasounds for the patients whose pregnancy test turns positive. If you or someone you know is experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, contact True Care’s scheduling line at 307-215-9684 to make an appointment. Our nurses are here to help.

Happy National Nurses Week to our lovely medical team!
