Recent changes in state laws across the country may make you question your pregnancy options. It’s crucial to be informed before you make a decision.

Currently, abortion is legal in Wyoming due to a temporary court injunction. However, before selecting this option, you should take several steps to protect your health and fully understand its side effects and risks.

Take advantage of True Care Women’s Resource Center’s pre-abortion checklist. You can confirm your pregnancy, learn about your options, and discuss any concerns in a confidential environment.

What Should I Do Before Deciding?

It may seem simple enough to take a pregnancy test and make your decision. But there are several things you should do beforehand.

1. Pregnancy Testing

First, we’ll medically confirm a potential pregnancy with no-cost pregnancy testing. At-home results aren’t always accurate, so you’ll want an answer you can trust.

2. Ultrasound

If you receive a positive result, you still need more information. An ultrasound scan at our center confirms the following information:

  • Viability: Do you have a pregnancy that is progressing and has a heartbeat? As many as 26% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, which means it has ended. You may need treatment or monitoring for this event.
  • Gestational age: How far along are you? This critical detail determines what procedure you’re eligible for and what options are available.
  • Location: Is your pregnancy located in the uterus? An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants in a location other than the uterus, such as a fallopian tube. This condition is dangerous and requires immediate treatment.

Before making a pregnancy decision, receiving an ultrasound is a vital step in this process. We provide ultrasounds at any gestational stage free of charge to our patients.

3. STI/STD Testing & Treatment

You can still contract an STI/STD if you’re pregnant, and complications can occur if you don’t receive the necessary treatment.

With a pregnancy appointment, True Care Women’s Resource Center provides limited STI/STD testing and treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. You deserve to protect your sexual health.

4. Review Your Options

Once you’ve completed essential health checks like an ultrasound and STI/STD testing, you’ll want to review the risks and side effects of abortion procedures.

Both medical abortion and surgical abortion cause cramping and bleeding, but they each have a set of risks you should be aware of. And there are eligibility factors you must consider, which is why speaking with a healthcare provider is also an essential step.

Our center provides no-cost information on all your options, including parenting and adoption. Weighing each option carefully ensures you’re making a decision that considers all aspects of your situation. We’ll never pressure you to select a specific one.
