You likely have many questions if you’re considering adoption for your unexpected pregnancy. While there’s much to reflect on, know these questions will be answered at our center.

While True Care Women’s Resource Center does not facilitate adoptions, we offer referrals for reputable agencies. We’ll help you explore this option and decide whether it’s best for you.

Understanding Adoption: What’s Available to You

Whether you know you don’t want an abortion or don’t wish to parent, adoption may provide the peace of mind you’re searching for. With this option, you’ll continue your pregnancy and place your child in a family of your choosing.

Though you might have heard that adoption is “giving your child,” nothing could be further from the truth. As the birth mother, you can select the adoptive family you want to raise your child, decide on your preferred communication style, and more.

Today, you have more flexibility than ever. There are several plans to choose from, each offering a different level of contact and involvement:

  • Open adoption: You form a relationship with the adoptive family and your child, communicating with them through letters, phone calls, visits, or whatever you choose.
  • Semi-open adoption: You communicate with the adoptive family through a third party (such as an attorney or agency), and limited information, like first names, is given.
  • Closed adoption: All information is kept confidential, and you and the adoptive family will not know each other. This option is available if you wish to remain anonymous.

Choosing adoption does not mean you’ll pay for services. In fact, your adoption and legal expenses will be covered. Medical expenses not covered by insurance may also be paid for, and material and emotional support can also be provided.

You alone can make a pregnancy decision. Deciding to make an adoption plan can be emotionally challenging, and you may be unsure where to learn more about this option.

True Care Women’s Resource Center is here for you. We’ll discuss adoption, answer your questions, and connect you to various resources to help clarify this option.
